Ps i love you was released on 8th January 2009. It stars Gerald Butler and Hilary Swank. The genre of movie that it is is romantic comedy, as it has some elements of humour in it. I think that the overal representaion of the trailer is the idea of moving on after losing someone close to you. This is shown throughout the trailer with a lot of voice overs of the dead husband.

At the begining of the trailer we are introduced to the institution who were in charge of production of the movie, which in this case is time warner, and also alcon entertainment. This is something that i will have to look into when making my teaser trailer because i also want to put the institutions logo at the begininf of my teaser trailer.
The non diegetic sound kicks in straight away into the trailer. The first moving image that we see is an establishing shot of the brooklyn bridge. This sets the scene for the audience allowing them to know where the following scene will take place. I think that having an establishing shot is a positive thing for a teaser trailer because it gives the audience more insight into the movie so i will consider using and establishing shot.

The next scene is of the two main characters. The mise-en-scene shows the audience that they are in their bedroom. In thise scene there 3 shots of which are all medium shots. This is done to introduce the so that we are able to see the characters and also the setting. Also the music is synchronous to the clip. The music is fast and happy which reflects the relationship between the two characters. Also the last thing we hear from the scene is her laughing.

The music then slowly fades,and so does the shot of the girl laughing. This is replaced with a slower tempo song, which is used in many trailers as a sign of showing that the mood is about to change, and also an indence which says "His life ended". The whole tone of the movie changes.

There is then a series of shots of the dead husband in which uses fade outs between each shot. The overall effect this has on the audience is seem as if he is slowly dissapearing and it creates a sense of sadness.
There is then an indence which says "but a new life" and the music then picks up again, this gives the idea of hope.

There is then a series of shots between Hiliary Swanks character and a leprocorn thats at her door, this is the comedic elememt to the trailer. This scene uses a series of POV shots between their conversation. Also the shots are medium shots this is so that we are able to see the lepracorns costume.
There is then cloe-up on a cake which is by her dead husband jerry and then we get a close-up of the girl holding a tape recoreder. There is a voice-over from a male character and also the main female character.

There is then another indence which says "starts now", which creates excitement as it indicates that her life is going to change. This is done to give audience a sense of hope even when something bad happens. This is followed quick cuts establishing all the other characters. These series of shots are medium close-up and medium shots, to show their facial expression.
The sound that is being heard during this scene is a voice over coming from the tape roecorder (diegetic) of her dead husband.

As the voice over says letters, there is then a series of shots with slow cutes between each takes of the girl recieving those letters. There is then another establishing shot of the brooklyn bridge. The voice over then changes, instead of the husband voices its another mans voice but not fromt he movie. It switches between the two throughout the whole movie.
We are then able to see one of the letters that he has sent her in a close-up of the letter, also using a POV shot, this puts the audience in the position of the girl.

The music then picks up to more up tempo, and so does the cuts between the next series of shots. The next shots are various shots of the girl having fun, showing that she is moving on.
We then see another establishing shot, but of land. This shows us that the settings have changed.

The next indence that we see says "from the producer of 'Devil Wears Prada". This is done as a way of promoting the movie as many people may like the devil wears prada and therefor will trust that this movie is a good movie.
We are then introduced to all the major actors that appear in the movie by a seried of medium shots of them.
This is followed by a long shot of the two of them walking, this follows the theme that although he is dead he is still there with her.

We are then able to see another one of Gerrys letter from POV shot again. Followed by a long take of her arguing with the paper, with a voice over of Gerry arguing back to her. The next scene is of the girl dancing, showing that she is doing what he told her to and having fun. Although it ends with her falling.
Then the title of the movie comes up, but as if it is being written, also in italic
wiriting.

The final scene from the movie that we see is of the couple together, also the trailer ends with humour.
Finally information about who was involved in the movie comes up. Finally followed by when the movie will be released although it doesn't say the actual date.
